1. Turtle Beach, Blairstown

Turtle Beach, located off Old Mine Road, is the only designated swimming area on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River, and it's one of the most popular swimming holes in the state. You'll find a grassy beach with picnic areas and restrooms here, along with opportunities for hiking. Parking and shade are readily available.

2. Bellmawr Lake, Bellmawr

Admission to Bellmawr Lake is affordable and includes lake access, a water slide, beach volleyball, and picnic pavilions. There is a beach bar and grill, and the area can be rented out for private parties.

3. Parvin Lake, Pittsgrove

Enjoy fishing, swimming, boating, and camping. A bathhouse and concession area are available at Parvin Lake. However, like with many other swimming holes, check the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection before planning a visit to swim, as this area can be closed to the public due to harmful algal blooms.

4. Swartswood Lake, Stillwater/Hampton

Swimming holes are typically smaller, but this 520-acre glacial lake gets the job done nonetheless. At Swartswood Lake, you can enjoy a beautiful beach area with access to changing rooms, restrooms, showers, and a concession area with a full menu.

5. Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, Williamstown

This campground and swim club has endless options when it comes to water and fun. Choose from a lake, swimming pool, or activity pool and enjoy amenities like boat rentals and fishing. Jellystone Park Camp-Resort belongs on your bucket list.

6. Highlands Natural Pool, Ringwood

This spring-fed freshwater pool is surrounded by gorgeous greenery and offers numerous amenities including picnic areas, volleyball, ping pong, and nearby hiking trails. Highlands Natural Pool is open to members, but visitors are welcome for a small fee.

7. Stony Lake, Branchville

Located in Stokes State Forest, this 8-acre lake offers swimming at a lifeguarded beach area. This is a beautiful space to spend a day outdoors, and don't forget your fishing gear. Stony Lake is an excellent fishing destination in New Jersey.
