“This is nature’s grandest show, and it won’t last long.”

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — It’s almost “peak bloom” for the cherry blossom trees in Branch Brook Park, and it’s coming just in time for the annual Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival.

The blooming of the cherry blossoms has become a springtime ritual for many people in North Jersey, who have flocked to the park by the thousands each year to check out the diverse collection at the park.

Peak bloom is expected to happen at Branch Brook Park from April 6 to April 13, according to a Thursday update from the Essex County Park System.

“Don’t miss your chance to stroll beneath a canopy of pink and white blossoms, snap stunning photos, and soak in the breathtaking beauty of spring,” park administrators encouraged. “Mark your calendars and plan your visit — this is nature’s grandest show, and it won’t last long.”

Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said that the natural beauty of the cherry blossoms has been attracting visitors to the park since they were first planted there in the late 1920s.

“We invite the public to come out and enjoy our display of 5,300 trees, which is larger than the national display in Washington D.C., and the most diverse collection in the world,” DiVincenzo said.
