8 Best Pumpkin Patches in New Jersey for a Perfect Fall Day

New Jersey is the Garden State, and one of our favorite fall fruits is the pumpkin. Yes, pumpkins are technically fruit! They're plentiful in our state and ready for picking at some of the best pumpkin patches in NJ. Many of these farms also offer other delicious treats and opportunities for fall fun!

 

1. Coombs Barnyard, Elmer

Each year, Coombs Barnyard hosts the October Barnyard Bash featuring hayrides, pumpkin picking and painting, farm animals, barrel train rides, games, and so much more. It's the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern, family-friendly fun. This year's festivities are scheduled for October 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2025, and will take place between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Looking for something a bit spookier? Check out the Flashlight Corn Maze, open between September 26 and October 25.

 

2. Heaven Hill Farms, Vernon

Heaven Hill is home to the Great Pumpkin Festival, which features family activities like pumpkin-picking, hay rides, pig races, carnival rides (on weekends), a corn stalk and hay maze, farm animals, and more—much more! This year's theme of the corn maze is Alice in Wonderland, and it's sure to charm festival goers of all ages. This year's festival runs between September 13 and November 2, 2025.

 

3. Alstede Farms, Chester

Fall is in full swing at Alstede Farms. Pick your own pumpkins or purchase them at the farmer's market. And we're not just talking any pumpkins—visitors will have their choice of orange or white pumpkins, munchkins, gourds, and assorted winter squash to make that perfect autumnal display. You can also pick other fruits and fresh flowers! Also, be sure to check out Harvest Moon Nights, which take place every Friday and Saturday evening in October.

 

4. Demarest Farms, Hillsdale

Pick and paint your own pumpkins, along with apples and other vegetables, at Demarest Farms. Visit daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to enjoy the petting zoo, farm market, and family-friendly play area. Of course, pick-your-own pumpkins is the signature experience, offered daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in September and October. Just be sure to make your reservation ahead of time!

 

5. Lee Turkey Farm, East Windsor

Endless fall fun awaits at Lee Turkey Farm! Known for raising turkeys, the farm is stepping away from turkey production this year, instead focusing on the farm market, U-pick flowers and vegetables, and a not-to-be-missed corn maze. Needless to say, this seven-generation farm belongs on your fall bucket list this year. You and your crew will leave with some top-notch produce and core memories!

 

6. Johnson's Locust Hall Farm, Jobstown

Johnson's Locust Hall Farm isn't your average fall destination in New Jersey. It's a 17th-century preserved farm that has evolved into an unforgettable family farm this time of year. Choose from apples, pumpkins, broccoli, kale, and corn! Guests can also enjoy hayrides, go-karting, farm animals, and a corn maze. Be sure to grab your day pass for access to pumpkin picking and more fall fun.

 

7. Melick's Town Farm, Oldwick

There's a lot to love about Melick's Town Farm. New Jersey's largest apple orchard also offers pumpkin picking! There are two locations: Califon Orchards and Oldwick Cider Mill. Reservations at both locations are recommended, especially on weekends. No matter which site you visit, don't miss out on cider and donuts!

 

8. Battleview Orchards, Freehold

Battleview Orchards is a popular pick-your-own spot that offers peaches, apples, and pumpkins each fall, along with hayrides and a country store. Plus, it holds the title of being the oldest pick-your-own orchard in New Jersey. When you're ready for something sweet, the bakery can't be missed!
